Optometric Assistant Job Description

Private Optometry practice in NW Indiana looking to find an Optometric Assistant with experience. If no experience, we are willing to train.

Duneland Family Eyecare is a family-owned small business that started in May 2020. We strive to provide quality, thorough, comprehensive eye examinations to patients of all ages. We also offer a wide selection of independent frames and high-quality spectacle lens technology as well as well as the latest designs of contact lenses to help patients see their best. We proudly offer new technologies that help detect various forms of eye disease. Additionally, we work hard to ensure every patient leaves our offices excited, comfortable, and well educated on their eye health status and glasses purchase.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a person who has outstanding customer service and people skills, seeking long term employment with a growing company. Person should have the following skills: great organization, self-motivated, multi-taskers, time management and attention to detail, comfort with computer systems and electronic health records.

Salary: $17.00 /hour based on skills and experience

Days and hours: 2 Days/week, M/W 9-5PM

Pay frequency: Every other week

Overview of Tasks

  • Front desk, including but not limited to answering phones, scheduling appointment, confirming insurance benefits
  • Prepares patient for vision examination including: obtain case and medical history, testing for visual acuity, depth perception, color perception, eye pressure, auto-refraction/keratometry and retinal fundus photos.
  • Assists in ordering of eyeglasses and contact lenses.
  • Keeps work area clean, light office cleaning

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 16 per week

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
